when it comes right down to it, these tariffs willl probably not amount to a hill of beanTrump likes to thump his chest and scare everyone, including the stock market, ugh.....in 2 yrs we will be happy for our new scouts,,,,
Yes, but he already gave away his game plan the first administration. Everyone knew he was going to do tariffs and were prepared for it this time. They knew how he was going to fight and how they could fight back. The only thing he can do now is escalate and further alienate our former allies. A narcissist will never admit they wrong they only know reward or revenge. That's the rest of his 4 years.

Nobody will ever trust us now though, so it’ll be very tough to get back to the type of rules based trading agreements that have been built up over the last 75 years. Trump signed a number of trade agreements in his first term and just ripped them up. No country is going to trust him on any future trade agreement.

More and more I am thinking Scout will have a hard row to hoe getting its product to market under $75K, I am currently moving money trying to protect my portfolio from what I see as a huge market downturn, getting into indexed CD's, gold MM funds, and high yield MM and Savings accounts. I can afford to pay $75K but don't know if I want to.

My goodness. Reading all these posts remind me of spoiled brats. Settle down. Breathe. The world doesn’t revolve around u getting a brand new truck.
So funny to sit back & watch all the “experts” in here whining and crying over politics. Take your politics elsewhere.
There is so much time for this to play out.

Maybe you forgot you are on the ScoutEV topics site. That's what we talk about here. I'm not seeing spoiled brats or experts or whining or even politics, just discussion by interested parties of the possible effects of tariffs on Scout Motors and its anticipated products. No, the world doesn't revolve around whether we can get a new Scout or not, but clearly these stupid economics are going to affect everything in our lives. I'll be ecstatic if the only result of the tariffs is that I won't be able to buy a new Scout. But I'm glad you can sit back and breathe as we watch our country going down the toilet.

If you're better and smarter than all us spoiled brats who don't realize this has "so much time to play out" then what are you even doing here? Get back to all your winning. I'm busy paying attention to the world and taking my 401k out of stocks before the market dropped 10% cause I think we're just at the beginning. I'll be happy to be wrong in a couple years and for you to laugh in my face for these posts, but so far I'm not seeing any indicators of that.

We know Scout will be built in the US and is sourcing a majority of parts domestically but still might impact them and bottom line price.

Scout said it is 80% North America. The US auto industry is heavily integrated with Mexico and Canada, with parts crossing the border an average of six times according to some estimates. If there are tariffs on each transit you can imagine how problematic that would be. Basically a tax on a tax on a tax, etc.. Without US/Canada/Mexico it makes absolutely no sense for foreign companies like VW to invest here. No cross border trade, no foreign investment, no Scout.

Sounds promising. Will need a long term bi-partisan commitment to maintain some level of incentive and or protection to sustain these jobs (many 2-3 years out). Oh yah, need skilled workers for these jobs who are committed to productivity and quality.

I think all this tariff talk is just posturing. If they went through it’s the equivalent to 25% global inflation. If other countries have half a brain they would not retaliate as this would keep prices nice and low in their countries and they could watch America crash and burn.

Arnt USMCA parts and vehicles exempt from the tarrifs? Weren't these tarrifs aimed at China mostly? I don't think this is as big as a deal as its made out to be.. Unless you're buying 4runners built in Japan in about 1 year it takes them to figure out how to implement .

Currently the tax or tariff structure is there are no tariffs between the 3 North American Countries. We do not tariff each other. Outside of that completely built vehicles are tariffed at 2.5% for cars and 25% for pick up trucks. Which is why no pick up are made outside of North America to be sold in North America.
Again I agree with you. It’s all the “wanna be art of the deal” and posturing. These tariffs if implemented would blow the roof off of inflation

Conjecture based on speculation.
Conclusion based on hate.
