Brakes squeal horribly backing out of driveway each day

Just curious if anyone else has this loud brake squeal when backing up before each drive. Its gotten to the point where im ready to take it in for service. I had this same issue with our Fj cruiser we drove for almost 18 years.

Common complaint with the GX550, but I doubt the brakes are the same.

No it’s only in reverse when brakes are cold

Just picked my Sport up on Friday. It was raining the whole trip home. When I backed out of the garage Saturday morning the brakes squealed. I’m going to keep watch on it.

i got this problem too. But as i use it thru out the day it disappears. Just every morning it has that loud squeak

Mine does it, really loud more than I would expect from squealing brakes. I only have 200 miles on mine and it does it after sitting for a while. I dropped mine off at service this afternoon so they can hear it in the morning.

Most likely from haze of rust that builds up on the rotors.

This happened to my Tundra and it's brand new. The dealership installed a shim kit, new front brake pads and rotors. All fixed under warranty.

I have had this issue with my 05 Tundra since the day I bought it and then bought a new one in 2018. To this day, same issue. I have taken both trucks to the dealer and have replaced rotor and pads several times over the years. Finally, had an indy shop tell me that this is common with the types of parts Toyota uses and nothing to be concerned with. After driving a few miles, the squealing goes away when in reverse. It used to drive me mad but now I'm used to it each morning. My wife's Acura does the same thing and Acura says that it has to do with the ceramic components. Anyway, as long as everything is new, shouldn't be an issue. Hope this helps.

Understood, but still, expecting a $70k-$90k truck to be quiet when backing up in the morning (and not waking up everybody around the neighborhood) is not too much to ask

Totally agree! That's exactly what I told the dealer on both trucks but only got the "shrug" sign back!

This is a known issue with these vehicles. I would wake up the neighborhood backing out of my driveway. The dealership fixed it free of charge and the noise is gone.
